Notable works include "His Elizabeth" (1940), "Dawn's Early Light" (1943), and "Ever After" (1945). Her novels received critical acclaim for their historical accuracy and engaging storytelling. In 1943, she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for "Dawn's Early Light." Thane died in 1973, leaving a lasting legacy as a chronicler of American history through the lens of fictional characters.
