R.L. Stine (born September 8, 1943) is an American children's horror fiction writer. He is known for his Goosebumps series and Fear Street series, which have sold over 400 million copies worldwide. Stine was born in Columbus, Ohio. He studied at The Ohio State University and Syracuse University. After working as a humor editor and writer for several magazines, he turned to writing horror fiction for children in the late 1980s. Stine's Goosebumps series, featuring short horror stories aimed at children aged 7-12, became a huge success. The series has been adapted into a television show, video games, and a movie. Stine's Fear Street series, aimed at older children and young adults, is also highly popular.
