Helen Bailey (1964-2016) was a British author known for her work in the crime fiction genre. Bailey's writing career began in 2014 with the publication of her debut novel, "Elegy for April." The book, which introduced Detective Constable Gemma James, became a critical and commercial success, winning the Dagger in the Library award in 2015. She followed up her debut with two more novels in the Gemma James series, "When the Moon Was Ours" (2015) and "The Summer of Dead Toys" (2016). Her work was praised for its atmospheric settings, intricate plotting, and nuanced characters. Bailey's literary career was cut short by her untimely death in 2016. Her husband was convicted of her murder in 2017. Despite her tragically short career, Bailey's work continues to be celebrated and enjoyed by readers around the world.
