About Torquil MacLeod

Torquil Macleod (born 1948) is a Scottish science fiction and fantasy author. Born in Edinburgh, Macleod studied English and worked as a teacher before becoming a full-time writer. He is known for his award-winning short stories, particularly "The Disappearance" (1995) which won the British Science Fiction Award and the World Fantasy Award. Macleod's works explore themes of memory, identity, and the nature of reality, often blending science fiction and fantasy elements. His novel "The Broken Stone" (1990) received critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the Arthur C. Clarke Award. "Dividing the Darkness" (1988) also garnered attention, establishing Macleod as a significant figure in contemporary speculative fiction.
