He is best known for writing the Star Trek episode "The Trouble with Tribbles," which introduced the beloved furry creatures. Gerrold's other notable works include the novels "When Harlie Was One," "The Man Who Folded Himself," and "The Martian Child." He has also written several books on writing and the creative process. Gerrold has received many awards for his writing, including the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, and the Writers Guild of America Award.
