Stephen White is an American author of crime fiction and suspense novels, born in 1951. Raised in Colorado, he attended the University of Colorado Boulder and worked as a journalist before pursuing writing full-time. White's debut novel, "Privileged Information," introduced psychologist Alan Gregory in 1989, the protagonist of many subsequent works. His novels often explore psychological and ethical themes, with complex characters and intricate plots. Notable works include "Remote Control" (1998) and "The Portable Vendetta" (2019). White has received multiple awards for his writing, including the Edgar Award for Best Novel in 1998 for "Remote Control," and the Macavity Award for Best Mystery Novel in 1996 for "Higher Authority."
