Barbara Ross (born 1948) is an American author best known for her work in the fantasy genre. Born in Ohio, Ross graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in education. She taught high school mathematics for eight years before pursuing her passion for writing. Her debut novel, "The Pit Dragon Chronicles," was published in 1990. The series became a popular fantasy tale, spawning four sequels and winning the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children's Literature in 1991. Ross's other notable works include the "Caballo" trilogy, the "Wolfheart" series, and the "Warriors of the Light" series.
