Sue Grafton (1940-2017) was an American author known for her critically acclaimed "alphabet series" of mystery novels. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, she began writing after working as a tax analyst and medical secretary. Grafton published her first novel, "A" is for Alibi, in 1982.
