Stephen Hunter (born 1946) is an American author and screenwriter, known for his suspenseful thrillers and acclaimed war novels. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Hunter began his career as a journalist and editor. In 1978, he published his first novel, "The Master Sniper," which introduced the iconic character Bob Lee Swagger, a former Vietnam War sniper living in seclusion. Hunter's subsequent novels have continued to explore the themes of duty, honor, and redemption, often set against the backdrop of wartime or political intrigue. His notable works include "Time to Hunt" (1990), "Black Light" (2004), and the "Sniper" trilogy (2009-2014).
