James Oswald is a British author best known for his Inspector McLean crime novels set in the Scottish Highlands. Born in 1969, he grew up in Fife and worked as a journalist before becoming a full-time writer in 2001. Oswald's debut novel, "Natural Causes," was published in 2001 and introduced Detective Inspector Tony McLean. The series has since grown to include 16 books, with the latest, "The Iron Cage," released in 2023.
