Martin Walker Non-Fiction Books
Martin Walker is a British journalist, non-fiction author, and novelist. Born in Edinburgh, he studied at the University of Glasgow and began his career as a reporter for the BBC. He later worked as a foreign correspondent for The Guardian and The Independent, covering conflicts in the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa. Walker is best known for his mystery novel series set in the Dordogne region of France, featuring protagonist Bruno Courrèges, the chief of police. The first novel in the series, "Bruno, Chief of Police," was published in 2008 and became an international bestseller. Walker has written over 20 novels in the series, which have been translated into more than 20 languages. The novels have garnered critical acclaim for their vivid descriptions of the French countryside, their intricate plots, and their exploration of contemporary social issues.
