**Keigo Higashino** (born February 4, 1958) is a prolific Japanese crime and mystery novelist. After graduating from Osaka University with a degree in engineering, Higashino worked as an electrical engineer before turning to writing full-time. His debut novel, "After School" (1985), won the Edogawa Rampo Prize for Juvenile Fiction. Higashino is renowned for his intricate plots, well-developed characters, and exploration of human nature in crime. Some of his notable works include "Devotion of Suspect X" (2005), "The Devotion of Suspect X" (2008), and "Malice" (2012). His works have been widely translated and adapted into films and television dramas. Higashino has received numerous awards, including the Naoki Prize in 1999 and the Mystery Writers of Japan Award in 2006. He is often considered one of the most successful and critically acclaimed crime writers in Japan.
