Elizabeth J. Duncan is an American author and professor. She is known for writing the New York Times bestsellers "A Man Called Ove" (2015) and "The Kindness of Strangers" (2018), both of which were translated from Swedish by Duncan. Duncan's works have garnered critical acclaim for their heartwarming stories and insightful exploration of human relationships. "A Man Called Ove" won the Goodreads Choice Award for Fiction in 2015 and was adapted into an acclaimed Swedish film in 2015. Duncan holds a Ph.D. in Scandinavian Languages and Literatures from the University of Washington. She has taught at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Washington. She has also translated numerous other works from Swedish, including "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" by Stieg Larsson.
