Dorothy L. Sayers (1893-1957) was an English crime novelist, playwright, and scholar. Born into a clerical family, she excelled in academics and language from a young age. Sayers' most famous creation is Lord Peter Wimsey, an aristocratic detective featured in over a dozen mystery novels and short stories. Her characterization, wit, and exploration of social issues in her works gained critical acclaim. Notable works include "Clouds of Witness" (1926) and "The Nine Tailors" (1934). She also wrote several plays, including "Busman's Honeymoon" (1936) and "The Man Born to Be King" (1941), which depicted the life of Jesus Christ. Sayers' literary achievements earned her an honorary doctorate from the University of Oxford. Her works continue to be widely read and adapted for film and television, cementing her legacy as one of the greatest mystery writers of all time.
