Carrie Vaughn is an American author of science fiction, fantasy, and paranormal romance novels. Born in 1968 in Huntsville, Alabama, she holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry. Vaughn's writing career began in 2004 with her novel "Kitty and the Midnight Hour," the first in the popular Kitty Norville urban fantasy series. Vaughn's works have received critical acclaim for their strong characters, intricate plots, and exploration of social issues. Her novel "Bannerless" (2006) won the Hugo Award for Best Novella, and her "Kitty" series has been nominated for multiple awards, including the Nebula Award and the Locus Award. Vaughn has published over thirty novels and numerous short stories, including the "Wild Fox" series, the "Golden Age" trilogy, and the "Sea Witch" series. Her works have been translated into multiple languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide.
