**Tony Parsons** (born 1953) is a British author and journalist. Born in Leeds, England, he initially pursued a career in journalism, working for publications such as the Daily Mirror and The Sun. Parsons transitioned to writing novels in the 1990s. His breakout novel, "Man and Boy," won the Specsavers National Book Award for Popular Fiction in 1999. Other notable works include "One Day," "The Force," and "My Name is You." Parsons has received critical acclaim for his writing style, which has been praised for its authenticity, humor, and emotional resonance. His novels have been translated into over 30 languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide. Despite his commercial success, Parsons has also faced criticism for his perceived lack of literary merit and his tendency to write about working-class characters in a stereotypical way.
