Born in Glasgow, May began his career as a journalist and editor, working for several newspapers and magazines before becoming a full-time writer in 2000. May is best known for his Lewis Trilogy (2006-2008), featuring Detective Inspector Fin Macleod. His other notable works include "The Blackhouse" (2011), "Coffin Road" (2016), and "The Night Fire" (2020).
