Andrew Britton (1937-2012) was a British author and psychoanalyst with a focus on psychoanalysis, most notably of children. He was born in London and studied English at Cambridge University, and later trained as a psychoanalyst at the Tavistock Clinic. Britton's notable works include "The Oedipus Complex Today: Clinical implications for children and adults" (1989), "Violence and Psyche: Notes on the Analytic Frame" (1998), and "The Work of the Negative: Psychoanalysis and the Unconscious" (2003). Britton was awarded the Sigourney Award of the American Psychoanalytic Association in 2003. His work has been widely praised for its originality, clarity, and clinical insights.
