Alan Furst (born February 20, 1941) is an American author of historical spy thrillers. Furst was born in New York City and graduated from Oberlin College and Columbia University. He worked as a journalist and editor for several years before publishing his first novel, Night Soldiers, in 1988. Furst's novels are set in the period between the two World Wars. They are known for their rich historical detail, complex characters, and suspenseful plots.
