Ally Carter is an American author of young adult contemporary and dystopian novels. Born in Oklahoma in 1974, Carter earned a degree in English from Texas A&M University. She worked as a bartender and a waitress before pursuing writing full-time. Carter's debut novel, "I'd Tell You I Love You, but Then I'd Have to Kill You," was published in 2006 and became a New York Times bestseller. She is best known for her Gallagher Girls series, which features a group of teenage spies trained by a secret organization. The series has sold over 7 million copies worldwide and has been translated into 25 languages. Carter has received numerous awards for her work, including the Oklahoma Book Award and the YALSA Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers. Her books have been praised for their fast-paced action, witty dialogue, and strong female characters.
