About Victoria Thompson
Victoria Thompson is an American author best known for her historical mystery novels. Born in 1959 in New York City, Thompson developed a fascination with history at a young age. After graduating from college, she worked as a journalist and editor before turning to writing fiction. Her debut novel, "Gaslight," was published in 2003 and introduced Sarah Brandt, a female detective in turn-of-the-century New York City. The novel was a critical and commercial success, launching a popular series that has sold millions of copies worldwide. Thompson's books are praised for their historical accuracy, complex characters, and gripping plots. She has received numerous awards, including the Agatha Award for Best Historical Novel (2003, 2006, 2014) and the Macavity Award for Best Historical Mystery Novel (2004).
