C. J. Cherryh (born November 1, 1942) is an American science fiction and fantasy writer. She has authored over 90 novels and short stories in multiple series, including the Foreigner universe, the Alliance-Union universe, and the Morgaine trilogy. Cherryh's works are widely acclaimed for their intricate worldbuilding and character development. She has won multiple awards for her writing, including three Hugo Awards, two Nebula Awards, and a Locus Award.
