Eric Flint is an American science fiction and fantasy author known for his alternate history series "1632". Born in 1954, Flint graduated from the University of California, San Diego, in 1976 with a degree in biology. He worked in various fields before becoming a full-time writer in the early 1990s. Flint's breakthrough came with the publication of "1632" (2000), which launched a sprawling series of over 70 novels set in a world where 17th-century West Virginia is transplanted into the present.
