Kim Stanley Robinson (born March 23, 1952) is an American science fiction writer. His work is known for its exploration of environmentalism, ecology, and politics. Robinson received a doctorate in English from the University of California, San Diego, in 1982. He has taught writing and literature at the University of California, Davis, and is currently a professor of English at the University of California, San Diego. Robinson's first novel, "Icehenge," was published in 1984. He has since written over 20 novels, including the "Mars" trilogy ("Red Mars," "Green Mars," and "Blue Mars"), the "Three Californias" trilogy ("The Wild Shore," "The Gold Coast," and "Pacific Edge"), and "Aurora." Robinson has received numerous awards for his work, including the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award. He is considered one of the most influential science fiction writers of his generation.
