Joe Abercrombie (b. 1974) is a British fantasy author known for his dark and gritty novels. A former television producer, he transitioned into writing in 2006 with his debut novel "The Blade Itself," which launched "The First Law" trilogy, a critically acclaimed series set in a brutal and realistic fantasy world. Abercrombie's other notable works include "Best Served Cold" (2009), "The Heroes" (2011), and "Red Country" (2012), all set in the same universe as "The First Law." He has received numerous awards for his writing, including the British Fantasy Award for Best Novel for "Best Served Cold" and "The Heroes." His books have been praised for their complex characters, unflinching violence, and exploration of themes such as morality, violence, and the nature of power.
