Daniel Silva is an American author best known for his espionage thriller novels featuring the Israeli intelligence officer Gabriel Allon. Born in 1966 in Michigan, Silva worked as a journalist and Middle East analyst before turning to writing. His debut novel, "The Unlikely Spy" (1997), introduced Allon and was a critical and commercial success. Silva has since written over 20 novels in the series, including "The Rembrandt Affair" (2007), "The Messenger" (2010), and "The Order" (2018). Silva's novels have been praised for their authenticity, suspense, and complex characters. They have won numerous awards, including the Crime Writers' Association Macavity Award and the Southern California Independent Booksellers Association Award.
