Craig Johnson

Craig Johnson (born 1961) is an American author best known for his series of mystery novels featuring Sheriff Walt Longmire. Johnson grew up in Wyoming and attended the University of Utah. After working various jobs, including as a bartender and a ski instructor, he began writing fiction in his 30s. In 1996, Johnson published his first novel, "The Cold Dish," which introduced Sheriff Walt Longmire. The book was a critical and commercial success, and Johnson has since written 20 more novels in the series. The Longmire books have been praised for their vivid characters, intricate plots, and authentic portrayal of the American West. Johnson has received numerous awards for his work, including the Western Writers of America Spur Award and the Tony Hillerman Prize. His books have also been adapted into a popular television series, "Longmire," which aired from 2012 to 2017.
