W. Michael Gear is an American historical fiction writer known for his novels set in ancient and pre-Columbian America. Born in Amarillo, Texas, he served in the U.S. Army before pursuing a writing career with his wife, Kathleen O'Neal Gear. Together, they have written over 50 books, including the "People of the Raven" series, the "North America's Forgotten Past" trilogy, and the "Anasazi Mysteries." Their works have won numerous awards, including the Western Writers of America Spur Award and the American Booksellers Association Book Sense Pick.
