Born in Washington, D.C., MacNeal holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and worked as an attorney for 15 years before pursuing her passion for writing. Her debut novel, "Mr. Churchill's Secretary," (2012) became a New York Times bestseller and launched a series featuring MI5 agent Lily Shepherd during World War II. MacNeal's subsequent novels in the series have also been critically acclaimed and commercially successful.
