Robert Harris (born March 7, 1957) is a British author known for his historical thrillers and political novels. Born in Nottingham, England, Harris began his career as a journalist before turning to fiction. His debut novel, "Fatherland" (1992), won the Crime Writers' Association Gold Dagger Award and was adapted into a popular television series. Harris's subsequent novels include "Enigma" (1995), "Pompeii" (2003), and "The Ghost" (2007). "Fatherland," "Enigma," and "Pompeii" were all adapted into major motion pictures. Harris's work has received widespread critical acclaim for its suspenseful plots, well-researched historical settings, and nuanced political themes. He has won numerous awards, including the Orwell Prize for Political Writing and the British Book Awards Author of the Year.
