Rick Yancey

Rick Yancey is an American author best known for his young adult dystopian novel, "The 5th Wave" (2013). Born in 1962 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Yancey initially worked as a creative director in advertising. His move into writing began with the release of his first novel, "Confessions of a Tax Collector" (2007), which won the Florida Book Award. Yancey's breakthrough came with "The 5th Wave," a science fiction novel about extraterrestrial invasion and survival. The book became a New York Times bestseller and was adapted into a film in 2016. Yancey has since published two sequels, "The Infinite Sea" (2014) and "The Last Star" (2016). Yancey's writing is characterized by its suspenseful plots, complex characters, and thought-provoking themes. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the YALSA Award for Excellence in Young Adult Fiction for "The 5th Wave" in 2014.
