Richard Bard

Richard Bard (1936-2020) was an American mystery and thriller writer. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he studied at the University of Massachusetts and Boston University before serving in the US Army. After working as a journalist and editor, he turned to writing full-time in the 1970s. Bard's novels feature complex plots, well-developed characters, and atmospheric settings. His 1985 thriller, "Last Act in Palmetto," won the Edgar Award for Best Mystery, while "1924" was nominated for the Anthony Award. He also authored several nonfiction works on true crime and the history of espionage. Bard's books have been translated into more than 20 languages and have sold over 40 million copies worldwide. He received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America in 2007. His work is known for its suspense, originality, and literary craftsmanship.
