Paula Hawkins is a British author best known for her psychological thrillers. Born in 1972 in Salisbury, England, she studied philosophy, politics, and economics at Oxford University. Hawkins worked as a journalist and financial journalist before publishing her debut novel, "The Girl on the Train," in 2015. The book became an instant international bestseller, selling over 20 million copies worldwide. It was praised for its suspenseful plot, complex characters, and exploration of psychological trauma. Hawkins followed up "The Girl on the Train" with two more thrillers, "Into the Water" (2017) and "A Slow Fire Burning" (2021). These novels also achieved critical and commercial success. Hawkins has received numerous awards for her work, including the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Mystery & Thriller in 2015 and 2017. Her books have been translated into over 40 languages and adapted for television and film.
