Nicola Yoon
Nicola Yoon is a Jamaican-American novelist known for her young adult contemporary romance novels. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1972, she moved to Brooklyn, New York, as a child. Yoon graduated from Yale University with a degree in English and later worked as a financial analyst before turning to writing. Yoon's debut novel, "Everything, Everything" (2015), received critical acclaim and became a bestseller. It tells the story of a teenage girl with a severe immunodeficiency who falls in love with her neighbor. The novel was adapted into a film in 2017. Yoon's subsequent novels include "The Sun Is Also a Star" (2016), "The Opposite of Always" (2017), and "Instructions for Dancing" (2021). Yoon's novels have been praised for their diversity, empathy, and exploration of complex themes. She has received numerous awards, including the National Book Award for Young People's Literature and the Coretta Scott King Author Award. Her work has been translated into over 40 languages.
