Matthew Dunn

Matthew Dunn is an Australian author known for his gritty crime thrillers. Born in Sydney in 1961, Dunn spent his early life in rural New South Wales before returning to the city to work as a journalist. He later moved to England, where he worked as a screenwriter. Dunn's debut novel, "A Single Thread," was published in 2003 and introduced Detective Sergeant Jack Darby, a complex and troubled character. The novel was shortlisted for several awards, including the Ned Kelly Award for Best First Novel. Dunn has since written several more Darby novels, including "The Man From the Sea," "The Quarry," and "The Motive." His work is characterized by its dark, atmospheric settings, intricate plotting, and flawed but compelling characters. Dunn has won numerous awards for his writing, including the Ned Kelly Award for Best Crime Novel in 2006 and 2012. His work has also been translated into several languages. Despite his critical success, Dunn remains a relatively unknown figure outside of Australia.
