Margaret Coel

Margaret Coel (1932-2013) was an American author, primarily known for her children's literature. Throughout her career, she wrote over 40 books, including picture books, novels, and poetry. Coel's works often explored themes of nature, childhood experiences, and the imagination. Some of her notable picture books include "The Other Side of the Island" (1961) and "The Tree Is a Promise" (1965). Her novels, such as "Tree by Leaf" (1968) and "The House of Dawn" (1975), received critical acclaim for their lyrical language and insightful portrayals of young characters.
