Laurie R King

Laurie R. King (born 1952) is an award-winning American author known for her historical mysteries and thrillers. Growing up in California, King studied law before pursuing her writing career. Her debut novel, "A Grave Talent" (1993), introduced San Francisco private investigator Kate Martinelli, a lesbian detective whose personal life intertwines with her investigations. King's series of Kate Martinelli novels has received critical acclaim and numerous awards. Beyond the Kate Martinelli series, King has written standalone historical mysteries, thrillers, and a Sherlock Holmes novel, "The Beekeeper's Apprentice." Her work is praised for its well-developed characters, historical accuracy, and suspenseful plots. King's novels have been translated into over 30 languages.
