Kiera Cass (born May 19, 1981) is an American author best known for her dystopian young adult novel series, "The Selection." Cass was born in South Carolina and earned a Bachelor of Science in History from Radford University. After working as a pastry chef and clinical dietician, she turned to writing full-time. Her debut novel, "The Selection," was published in 2012 and became an instant bestseller. The series, which follows a group of young women competing for the hand of a prince in a futuristic society, has sold over 12 million copies worldwide. Cass has received numerous awards for her work, including the Goodreads Choice Award for Best YA Fantasy & Science Fiction (2012) and the Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award for Best Young Adult Fantasy (2013).
