John le Carre

John Le Carré (1931-2020), born David John Moore Cornwell, was a British author known for his espionage novels. Early in his career, he worked as a teacher and diplomat. His breakthrough came with "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold" (1963), widely regarded as a masterpiece of the genre. Le Carré's novels, characterized by intricate plots and complex characters, often explored themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the nature of espionage. Notable works include "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (1974), "The Honourable Schoolboy" (1977), and "Smiley's People" (1979). He received numerous awards, including the British Crime Writers' Association Gold Dagger and the WH Smith Literary Award.
