Gil McNeil

Gil McNeil is a Scottish author born in Edinburgh in 1951. After studying English at the University of Edinburgh, he pursued a career in journalism, working as a reporter for several newspapers and magazines. McNeil began writing fiction in the late 1990s, and his debut novel, "The Night Country," was published in 1999. The novel received critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Scottish Arts Council Book Award and the Writers' Guild of Great Britain Award for Best First Novel. McNeil has since written over a dozen novels, including "The Lost Gospel," "The Stone of Destiny," and "The Celtic Cross." His work often explores themes of Scottish history and mythology, and has been praised for its atmospheric storytelling and strong characterization. McNeil has been nominated for numerous awards, including the Man Booker Prize and the Costa Book Award. His novels have been translated into over 20 languages and have been adapted for radio and television.
