Fay Weldon

Fay Weldon (born 22 September 1931) is an English author, playwright, and screenwriter. Born in Alvechurch, Worcestershire, she studied at the University of St Andrews before working as a journalist and advertising copywriter. Weldon's writing often explores themes of feminism, sexuality, and social class. Her notable works include "Down Among the Women" (1971), "The Cloning of Joanna May" (1985), and "Life Force" (1992). She has written over 30 novels, numerous short stories, plays, and screenplays. Weldon has received various awards for her work, including the Booker Prize for "Life Force," the Lannan Literary Award, and a CBE in 2000 for services to literature. Her critical success stems from her incisive wit, provocative subject matter, and ability to challenge societal norms.
