F. Scott Fitzgerald

F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940) was an American novelist and short story writer, widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. Born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Fitzgerald's early success came with "This Side of Paradise" (1920), a novel that captured the disillusionment and excess of the Jazz Age. His most famous work, "The Great Gatsby" (1925), a tragic love story of a self-made millionaire, became an iconic portrayal of the American Dream. Fitzgerald's other notable works include "Tender Is the Night" (1934) and "The Last Tycoon" (unfinished at his death in 1940). Despite his critical acclaim, Fitzgerald struggled with alcoholism and financial instability. He died in Hollywood at the age of 44. In addition to the Pulitzer Prize for "The Great Gatsby" (awarded posthumously), Fitzgerald's work has received numerous literary awards and critical accolades for its vivid prose, lyrical style, and exploration of themes like love, loss, and the pursuit of the American Dream.
