About

Barry Eisler

Barry Eisler (born November 10, 1954) is an American author known for his thrillers, particularly his John Rain series. Born in New York City, Eisler studied martial arts and worked in Japan and the U.S. as a professional translator before becoming a novelist. His debut novel, "Rain Fall," introduced John Rain, a half-Japanese assassin struggling to balance his dangerous profession with his personal life. Eisler's Rain series has garnered critical acclaim for its complex characters, well-researched action scenes, and exploration of moral and ethical dilemmas. "Rain Fall" won the Dilys Award for Best First Novel and was nominated for the Edgar Award for Best Novel. Eisler has also written other novels, including the Livia Lone series and standalone works such as "The Last Assassin" and "The God's Eye View." Like his Rain books, these feature believable protagonists, intricate plots, and thought-provoking themes.
