Anthony Trollope

Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) was a prolific English novelist and civil servant. Born in London, he began writing at a young age to supplement his income. During his career, he held various positions in the British postal service, including Surveyor General, while writing extensively in his spare time. Trollope is best known for his series of six novels set in the fictional county of Barsetshire, including "Barchester Towers" and "The Last Chronicle of Barset." These works chronicled the lives of the clergy and gentry, and were praised for their realism, humor, and acute social observations. Trollope also wrote numerous other novels, including "Framley Parsonage," "The Warden," and "He Knew He Was Right." His work has been praised for its psychological depth, rich characterization, and readability. Despite his prolific output and critical acclaim, Trollope was not formally recognized for his literary achievements during his lifetime. However, his works have since been widely read and adapted, and he remains a beloved and respected figure in English literature.
