Alex Michaelides

Alex Michaelides is a British-Cypriot novelist, screenwriter, and playwright. Born in Cyprus in 1977, he later studied English literature at Cambridge University and earned a PhD in philosophy from King's College London. Michaelides gained recognition in 2019 with his debut novel, "The Silent Patient," a psychological thriller that became an international bestseller. The novel won multiple awards, including the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Mystery & Thriller, and has been translated into over 40 languages. His second novel, "The Maidens," was released in 2021 and explores themes of academia, art, and obsession. It also received widespread critical success and solidified Michaelides' reputation as a master of the psychological thriller genre. Michaelides has also written several plays that have been performed in London theaters.
